The Canterbury Collection

We are thrilled to be working in association with Canterbury Cathedral Archives to bring you the Canterbury Collection.

Canterbury Cathedral Archives collects, cares for, and provides access to records that relate to Canterbury Cathedral, the City of Canterbury, parishes in the historic Archdeaconry of Canterbury and other local institutions and families. It is administered by the Dean and Chapter.

Included in the collection are Church of England parish baptisms, marriages and burials for churches in the historic Archdeaconry of Canterbury. The registers are a vital resource for people researching the family and local history of Kent.

Parish Registers

From 1841 until 2011, the diocese of Canterbury was divided into two archdeaconries: Canterbury in the east and Maidstone in the west. These registers come from Canterbury's historic archdeaconry. Before 1841, Canterbury was the only archdeaconry. In 2011, the Archdeaconry of Ashford was created, and the archdeaconry boundaries redrawn.

Records of banns, baptisms, burials and marriages contributed by Canterbury Cathedral Archives can be found in the following record sets;
