Surrey History Trust

Findmypast is delighted to be working in partnership with the Surrey History Trust to make available a selection of its records of value to family historians with roots in the county.

The Surrey History Trust was inaugurated by King Charles III - then HRH The Prince of Wales. It is based at the Surrey History Centre in Woking and supports through fundraising, advocacy and volunteer projects the work of the centre to identify, collect, conserve and make available historical records from the ancient county of Surrey.

Part of the trust's purpose is to raise public awareness of history and historical resources and to broaden access by publishing catalogues, indexes and digitised records online.

You can browse a selection of fantastic record sets that are available now through our partnership with the Surrey History Trust below.

Surrey Recruitment Registers, 1908-1933

Surviving recruitment registers for the World War I period are extremely rare indeed and the Surrey Recruitment Registers offer a fascinating snapshot of the men of Surrey who served for King and Country. This record set comprises details of approximately 85,000 men who attested for service with a variety of regiments in Surrey between 1908 and 1933.

These records provide some lovely additional details about the individual in question, often including height, weight, occupation, unit or regiment and additional notes.
