North Yorkshire County Record Office

North Yorkshire County Record Office provides an archive service for the whole of North Yorkshire, England’s largest county. The archives are housed on over five miles of shelving in a purpose converted building in Northallerton which welcomes over 4,000 visitors a year.

The North Yorkshire County Record Office has a collection comprising of millions of documents dating from the twelfth century to the present day which chronicle the lives of North Yorkshire’s people and their changing cultures over the past 800 years.

Supplementing the ‘traditional’ archive is a growing body of community and digital archive material, as well as a rich and wide-ranging printed local studies collection.
