Families in British India Society

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Families in British India Society (FIBIS).

FIBIS is a charity managed entirely by volunteers and funded by small membership fees and the sale of relevant publications.

The society was founded in 1998 with the primary aim of providing no-cost online resources for people researching family and social history in India and beyond, during the British presence in South Asia from 1600 to Indian Independence in 1947.

FIBIS is proud of its database holding over a million entries from the India Office Records and other sources, all transcribed by dedicated volunteers. The Society will in future be concentrating on transcribing new records from alternative sources currently not available online.
