Essex Society for Family History

We are pleased to be working in partnership with the Essex Society for Family History, which is one of the oldest family history societies in England.

Established in 1974, the Essex Society for Family History is one of the oldest family history societies in England, with more than 2,600 members. The area of interest that it covers is historic Essex in southern England with the exception of the area now within the Greater London boundary.

Regular meetings, which are open to non-members, take place at Chelmsford, Colchester, Harlow, Saffron Walden and Southend on Sea, and the quarterly journal “The Essex Family Historian” enables members at home and further afield to enjoy general articles on family history, learn more about the area of their ancestors, and be kept up to date with events and all the services that the Society offers.
